Six library branches could close under a preliminary recommendation adopted by the Future of the Library Task Force.
Among those on the list: Hickory Grove, Plaza Midwood, Myers Park, Davidson and Cornelius. The Matthews branch could lose $313,500 of its $570,000 in funding, putting it in danger of closing.
The closures are part of a trade-off that would take staffing dollars from those branches and use it to restore services cut last year at the county's six regional libraries, according to a preliminary model released Tuesday.
