Victim shot in face

DEATH: Police are investigating the death of a man in the 7700 block of N. Tryon St. The subject was found shortly after noon Thursday lying on the floor. A cause of death was not immediately determined.

ASSAULT WITH DEADLY WEAPON:  A man was taken by friends to Carolinas Medical Center-University after he was shot in the face. The incident was reported Thursday about 7:49 a.m. in the 8000 block of Hereford Street. The victim’s injuries were believed to be non-life threatening. A suspect was taken into custody. Police said the shooting appeared to be related to domestic violence.

SUSPICIOUS ITEM: A security guard found a suspicious package Thursday morning on the corner of 3rd Street near the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center. CMPD’s bomb squad was called shortly after 6 a.m. The package turned out to be an unattended box.

FIRE INVESTIGATION: Police assisted firefighters in the 6100 block of Tiara Lane shortly before 4:30 a.m. Thursday. Arson investigators were on the scene.

ROBBERY: A man reported being robbed by three black males who fled on foot. The incident was reported shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday at 5th and Poplar streets. The victim was not injured.

ROBBERY: A Boston Market restaurant in the 1000 block of Chancellor Park Drive was robbed at gunpoint around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. The suspect was described as a black male who fled on foot. No one was injured.

ROBBERY: A Shell station in the 7600 block of Nations Ford Road was robbed at gunpoint shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday. The suspects were described as two black males who fled in a silver-colored Pontiac. No one was injured.

ROBBERY: A victim in the 5700 block of Londonberry Rd. reported being robbed by two Hispanic males shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday. The suspects fled in a silver Honda Civic. No injuries were reported.
