Vince Coakley to leave Channel 9
Vince Coakley, WSOC’s primary anchor since 2005, is leaving the station, replaced by
Blair Miller, who anchors Channel 9's 5:30 p.m. newscast.
Coakley joined WSOC nearly 18 years ago as a general assignment reporter. The station did not elaborate on his departure.
“This season of reporting and anchoring the news has run its course,” Coakley said in a statement. “It has been positive and meaningful for me.”
A Cincinnati native, Coakley began his career in broadcasting as a reporter for WLEX-TV Lexington, Ky. He later became a reporter and anchor for WKYT-TV, also in Lexington.
Coakley will continue in his anchoring duties through Aug. 20.
