Two people were found shot to death inside a car in west Charlotte late Sunday, capping a weekend of violence that saw a third person killed and a fourth seriously injured.

The double killings were reported shortly after 11 p.m. in the 2900 block of Morning Drive, just off West Boulevard, between uptown and the airport. Police did not immediately release the victims’ names.

In a separate incident, 20-year-old Devon Alister Clement was shot and killed around 4:19 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the Cookout Restaurant in the 1300 block of West Sugar Creek Road. Witnesses told police Clement may have been involved in an altercation with several people outside the restaurant immediately before he was shot.

Police also are investigating a Sunday evening shooting in the 500 block of Camrose Drive, just off The Plaza, in northeast Charlotte. Police said the victim, whose name was not released, suffered life-threatening injuries. Police said the incident may have stemmed from an ongoing dispute.

CMPD has investigated 23 homicides so far this year, versus 14 this time last year.

Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly to a homicide detective, or call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
