Good morning Qcity! Keep your umbrella handy just in case because the weatherman says there is a chance we will see some patchy drizzle today. The forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies with highs in the mid 70s and lows near 60°.

Here’s what’s brewing in the news:

Will Supreme Court strike down Obama’s healthcare reform?

The U.S. Supreme Court agreed yesterday to review President Barack Obama’s healthcare law and decide whether Congress has overstepped its bounds by ordering all Americans to purchase health insurance by 2014 or pay a penalty. Oral arguments in the case are expected to begin in March, with a ruling in July just months before the November presidential election. The high court could decide to leave the entire law intact, strike down sections, such as the individual mandate provision, or invalidate the entire law. The Obama administration has asked the court to keep the mandate that requires individuals to purchase insurance. The majority of U.S. states (26 out of 50) have asked the court to strike down the law in its entirety. The court could also decide to put off the ruling until after the law has taken effect.

Jennifer Roberts last term on County Commission

Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners Chair Jennifer Roberts said that when she was elected to the board in 2004, she had no plans of serving more than 8 years. Well, time is about up, and Roberts has announced that she will not be seeking another term next year, reports The Charlotte Observer. "I want to encourage new leaders to step forward, to give them time to plan their campaign and their own quest for ensuring Mecklenburg County's healthy future," Roberts said. Although she did not announce any plans to seek another office, she did say she has been in talks with state and national leaders about other positions and would keep her options open. "I am examining new opportunities for service, whether in the public, private or non-profit sector, and will chart the new path carefully and deliberately," Roberts said.

Taking on Facebook

An Austrian law student filed a complaint against Facebook after receiving over 1,000 pages of data the social media company had stored about him. Max Schrems said that much of the stored data was information he had deleted, and some of it was information that Facebook had generated on its own. He says it was “more than the CIA or the KGB has ever had on an average person.” In the following clip, Schrems says Facebook needs to be more transparent about the data being kept on its 800 million users and why the information is being stored. “I have no clue what they are doing with my stuff,” he says.

Watch and discuss.
