The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art is launching a new Architecture + Film series.

It kicks off Friday, Sept. 16, with a screening of "Visual Acoustics: The Modernism of Julius Shulman." Through his photography, Shulman documented the rise of Southern California’s modernist architects, including Richard Neutra, John Lautner, Frank Lloyd Wright and Frank Gehry

An open discussion led by Charlotte-based architectural photographer Tim Buchman will complement the screening. Buchman's talk will highlight themes including the relationship between architect and photographer, the challenges faced by architectural photographers and the process involved in photographing buildings.

An event reception begins at 6 p.m. The screening begins at 7 p.m.

The Bechtler is giving away tickets to a limited number of Qcitymetro readers.
