Woman shot, not seriously hurt, while chasing robbers
A woman in northeast Charlotte was shot in the ankle Monday night after she and a male companion chased a group of armed men who entered their home.
The incident happened about 10:15 p.m. at a residence in the 1900 block of Terrybrook Lane, just off Sugar Creek Road near Garinger High School.
According to police, four black males entered the home through a screen door. One of the suspects tasered the man while the other three, armed with guns, demanded money.
After the suspects left the home, the victims gave chase. The robbers fired several shots, striking the woman in the lower ankle. A bullet also grazed her arm.
Police said the woman’s injuries were not life threatening.
“This incident is likely drug related based on evidence at the scene,” police Capt. Michelle Hummel said in the report.
