Wreck snarls traffic on W.T. Harris

An early morning wreck on W.T. Harris Boulevard at Grier Road closed the westbound lanes and snarled traffic for Monday commuters.

The accident, near the CPCC Cato campus, happened about 4:15 a.m. and sent two people to the hospital, according to police.

An overturned vehicle was just off the right lanes. It took authorities about two hours to reopen the highway.

Police offered no word on what caused the crash.

ROBBERY: A victim was sitting in his/her car in the 2900 block of Cross Roads Place around 3:13 a.m. Monday when an armed suspect approached and took property.

ROBBERY: Victims told police they were outside in the 2600 block of Mayfair just after midnight Monday when two black males approached. One suspect displayed a weapon and demanded the victims’ property before leaving on foot. No injuries were reported.

ROBBERY: A black male told police he was cleaning out his car in the 8500 block of Lodge South Circle around 5:41 p.m. Sunday when he was approached by a black male and white female who indicated a weapon and demanded property. The victim ran away on foot and was not injured. The suspects were later identified and robbery detectives were called to assist with the investigation.

SEXUAL ASSAULT: A victim reported being sexually assaulted on Blendwood Drive. shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday. The assault, by a known male, occurred at the victim’s residence.

ROBBERY/ASSAULT:
A victim in the 4500 block of Central Avenue reported being assaulted during an attempted robbery around 4:13 a.m. Saturday. The victim was treated at Carolinas Medical Center.

SEXUAL ASSAULT: A victim in the 9100 block of S. Lakebrook Road reported being sexually assaulted by a known male just before 2 p.m. Saturday.
