Women in the YWCA's Getting Ahead program graduated from the 15-week course on Tuesday.
Students in the program had open discussions covering issues such as the impact poverty has on individuals, families and communities. Some of the participants included senator office officials and YWCA staff members.
Ruby Payne’s book, “Bridges Out of Poverty,” was used as a guide for the “Getting Ahead in a Just Getting by World” discussions.
