NEW YORK—Monday was all about women of color.

Designer Tracy Reese showed her fall collection at the big tent, the only African American to do so.

The New York-based designer didn't stick to her known girly-style of dresses. She instead opted to do black leggings, fitted gray slacks, sexy lace dresses, chunky knits, textured hose and faux fur accents on jackets and sweaters.

Her color palette for fall -- pale green, browns, cream, gold, black, gray and pale pink – was nice.

Kudos to her for a solid line that's edgier and more sensible.

Celeb sightings: Ms. Jay from ANTM, TV personality Jackee Reid, celeb make-up artist Damone Roberts, actress Julia Stiles and singer Michelle Williams.

Monday also was a big day for designer Korto Momolu.

The former Project Runway star debuted her fall collection (photos below) to a standing-room-only crowd.

Momolu's handcrafted collection (she made everything herself) featured beautiful textured coats, floor length dresses with flowing silhouettes, functional crocheted sweaters and skirts for the fall season.

In an interview, Momolu said she made this collection for the woman who is “confident, independent and knows what she wants."

I was so pleased to see that she embraced colors like orange, shades of purple and fuschia, when so many designers are opting for a neutral palette.

"I'm a color girl!" she said. "I love color. It's so boring and depressing when you don't use color. Color makes people happy and its great for your confidence. It brightens up who you are."

The designer is hoping that buyers will see her vision and put her garments in their stores.

Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Meanwhile, her signature jewelry and handbag line for Dillard's debuted yesterday. She's scheduled to make an in-store appearance at Dillard's on March 19 in the Qcity.

Celeb sightings: The show was styled by Misa Hylton-Brim Diddy's Ex Janice Comb, Diddy's mother, Diddy's son Justin, Project Runway alum Leanne Marshall, Epperson, Suede, Kevin Christiano and several America's Next Top Model cast members.
